The two parts of a tow price
Almost every tow in Ontario has two parts: a hook-up fee for loading the vehicle, and a distance charge for every kilometre it travels. A short tow across town costs much less than a run between cities.
Call Angar Towing with your pickup and drop-off addresses and the dispatcher will give you the full price before the truck is sent.
Wheel-lift or flatbed?
A wheel-lift is cheaper and fine for most front-wheel-drive cars. A flatbed costs more but is the right choice for all-wheel-drive, 4x4 and electric vehicles, and for cars with crash damage or locked wheels. The dispatcher will ask your make and model and tell you which you need.
What can add to the price
Winching a car out of a ditch or snowbank, towing out of an underground garage, heavy-duty vehicles and storage all add to the price. Ask the dispatcher for a full quote before you agree to the tow.
Your rights on price
Ontario's Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act requires tow operators to get your consent before towing, give you an itemized invoice and accept credit cards. You should know the price before the truck hooks up.
Roadside help often costs less
Many calls don't need a tow at all. Battery boosts, lockouts, tire changes and fuel delivery cost much less than a tow, and they get you moving faster.
